SEROTONIN: EATERY, EXERCISE + EDUCATION

At Serotonin, we provide a sanctuary to escape from our fast-paced lives. As optimal health requires a holistic approach, Serotonin integrates both a nourishing Eatery with an Exercise centre. Our ethos is based around eating a plant-based diet to ensure the body, mind and earth all function at their best.

Our founder Emily sought a place where she could be motivated daily and connect with others looking to live positively. She longed for a no-brainer menu where every dish was nourishing and she didn’t need to narrow it down to a ‘healthy option’. She couldn’t find such a place, so she made one.

The world is shifting. There’s a movement growing and Serotonin is at the forefront. Our wellness centre is focused on facilitating those who wish to relearn the importance of health and happiness. Serotonin is a reminder that health and happiness are achievable with a little effort.

I opened my Happiness Centre with the vision of changing minds and lives. I want Serotonin to be a leading facility in happiness and health education. I’ve set the bar high with organic and house-made meals and my Education syllabus on the “Serotonin Formula” will beginning January 2016. The Dealers and I are here to make your day, and life a little happier. So come in, say hi, get nourished and take a moment to be mindful.

Serotonin Exercise is a personal bespoke training service run by myself and is located next door to the Eatery at 138 Stawell St, Burnley. The Serotonin Eatery is a plant-based cafe providing foods that regulate neurotransmitters and hormone activity within our bodies, keeping our mood and gut happy. At Serotonin Eatery we encourage mood regulation, allowing you to have more energy to enjoy the activities you love.

Our produce is sourced from quality farmers, is organic where possible and has no BAD-itives. Everything on our nutritious menu is created in-house by our talented chefs, with each dish featuring produce in its most natural state. By including all colours of the rainbow in each dish, we are helping Australians increase their daily intake of fruits and vegetables, which currently only 6% of us are meeting. Studies have shown that an increase in daily fruit and vegetable intake is positively correlated with happiness levels.

Serotonin Exercise is a bespoke, personal-training service run by Gus Arundel (0415 363 183 / @coach.gus) and is located next door to the Eatery. The service offers individually-tailored programs for all health goals and fitness levels including overall fitness, athlete-specific strength and conditioning, weight loss, toning and hypertrophy. Sessions are structured around primal compound movements such as squatting, jumping, pulling and pushing and incorporate a variety of quality Australian-made equipment.

By committing to one-on-one training sessions, special attention can be directed to alignment, mobility and the breath which better activates muscles and helps prevent injury. We also value the social and motivational benefits of group exercise, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for upcoming classes and boot camps. By choosing Serotonin Exercise as your training facility you’re not just getting a workout, you’re joining the movement to become the healthiest, happiest version of yourself.

Education

Starting in January 2016 we will be running our first 12-month program to teach you the Serotonin Formula. The Formula is our 12-step guide to natural happiness and has been designed in coordination with doctors, psychologists, food scientists and dietitians. The Formula is utilised across all areas of Serotonin – Eatery, Exercise and Education – and forms the foundation for the Serotonin lifestyle movement. Our Education program is about creating an understanding of how our bodily systems (i.e. our brain, hormones and digestive system) regulate our mood. Through regular seminars held throughout the year, we aim to share simple techniques with the community that can be seamlessly incorporated into our daily routine, improving quality of life through happiness.
